Portrait Process

Free / no obligation introductory call with Sophie
Creating memorial art with ashes is a deeply sensitive process; giving someone ashes of your loved one to create art with takes a level of trust then goes far beyond an online purchase.
I ensure that I meet everyone who is interested in a portrait on an online call. If you prefer, this can be a phone call.
This is an opportunity for you to meet me and be able to make an informed decision about working with me.
It’s an opportunity to ask me any questions you have and for me to tell you more about the process of working with your loved ones’ ashes.
We can explore your ideas for the portrait, whether you want to commission one of my standard styles or something bespoke.
If you are willing to, it is also an opportunity for me to learn more about your loved one. This helps me to start to get to know them, which is important for me when working with their ashes.

Creation of your portrait
If you decide to proceed with commissioning a portrait, at this point we confirm your exact requirements, I provide an invoice and payment is made.
All portrait prices include an ashes collection pack, which I then send out to you.
Once you return a sample of your loved ones’ ashes I make contact to confirm that I have received them and begin work on your portrait.
I create your portrait using the techniques explained in our introductory call.
Depending on your options chosen I also document the process of creating your portrait by video.
We discuss timeframes in our introductory call, but this will usually be around three weeks.

Receiving your portrait
All portrait prices include special next day delivery of your finished portrait. I make contact ahead of sending your portrait to confirm the timings suit you, as many people want to make plans to be at home to take delivery.
All portraits are sent with the utmost care to their protection, and include a certificate of authenticity and the return of any unused ashes.
